I was born in the Netherlands in 1945 & immigrated to the USA in1956.After graduating from Sheboygan NHS in 1963, I received my BA. degree in Psychology from Calvin College,Grand Rapids,Michigan in 1967.I then went to the USMC Academy in Quantico,Virginia for 6-months & graduated as a 2nd.Lieutenant in Nov.,1967.I spent 4-yrs. in the USMC on active duty including a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1969-1970.I was honorable discharged from the USMC as a Captain in 1971.I completed my MA. degree in Clinical Psychology at Western Michigan University,Kalamazoo,M.I.in1973.I worked as a psychologist for several yrs. before completing my Ed.D. degree in Counselor Education & Counseling Psychology also from WMU in 1979.Since then I have been teaching undergraduate & graduate students in the Specialty Program in Holistic Health Care,College of Health & Human Services,WMU.I retired from WMU in 2006 as an Associate Professor and am still doing some part time teaching,counseling & consulting.
