A lot happens - very quickly - in 50 years! I spent 2 years at the Univ. of Miami in Coral Gables, then transferred to UW-Madison with a change in majors and change of heart to be with Kay. Both reasons turned out to be excellent decisions. We married in 1967, she as a graduate, me filling in courses for a degree in bacteriology with about equal credits in chemistry. As a newly minted food microbiologist, I took a job at the Food research Institute at the UW. We started a family and Kay stopped teaching 5-6 grade (when the kids all got in school, she returned to school for her RN degree) and I began a food industry career in Research, Quality Control and finally Quality Assurance/Technical Services management. We had two sons and a daughter (Christopher, Patrick, Elizabeth)... dragging them around in Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, and back to Illinois. I lost Kay in 1991. I met Penny and we have been married for 20+ years. We lost Patrick in 2008. We have three granddaughters spread out in Ohio and South Carolina. Penny retired from teaching 33 years and I finally threw in the towel 2 years ago--- AND NEVER LOOKED BACK, TOTALLY ENJOYING THE FREEDOM OF BEING INTENTIONALLY UNEMPLOYED.
